uVote Terms & Conditions

Last updated: October 2, 2026. This page mirrors the Terms & Conditions inside the app.

These terms explain how accounts, voting rooms, ballots, access codes, and owner-reviewed code requests work in uVote. Read them together with the Privacy Policy and Refund Policy.

Using uVote

uVote supports room-based elections for students, organizations, and communities. By creating an account or using a voting room, you agree to these terms. Follow the eligibility requirements and election rules set by your organizer. Access to a room does not itself verify your student status or eligibility for an official election.

Your Account

Register with your full name, email address, and password, or continue with Google. Manual registration does not send an email verification code. Use an email address you control so you can recover a password account. Google handles its own sign-in checks. Existing accounts can sign in on any device. An unused device is reserved when an account is first created or signed in there; once reserved, another account cannot be created on that device. Signing in to a different existing account does not transfer the reservation. Device identifiers are an abuse check, not proof of personal identity. Protect your credentials and do not impersonate another voter.

Room Owners and Voters

Each account may own one voting room and join other rooms. You manage the room you own and participate as a voter in rooms you join. The owner cannot cast a ballot in their own room. Owners are responsible for room membership, candidate information, election settings, and communicating rules and results to participants.

Finding, Joining, and Leaving Rooms

Search using the exact room name supplied by the owner. Open rooms allow joining without an access code; code-gated rooms require a valid code or an approved remote request. If you are already a member, search displays “Already in the room” and does not start another join or code request. You may leave a room you joined. Owners must delete their own room instead of leaving it.

Access Codes and Rejoining

A redeemed code is assigned to the account that used it and cannot be transferred to another account. After leaving, the original account may reuse its valid code or request a new one. A fresh remote request replaces an old completed request when the user is no longer a member. Pending requests continue through their existing review process. Rejoining does not remove a previous vote in the same election round.

Requesting a Code

If a room requires a code and you do not have one, you can send the owner a free request from search. uVote notifies the owner, who can approve or decline it. If approved, a code is assigned, you are added to the room, and you are notified. You can cancel a pending request. uVote does not charge for codes and does not process payments. Do not ask for or accept payment for access codes through uVote. Rooms and requests created by earlier versions may still hold payment details that were entered at that time; the app no longer collects or shows them.

Ballots and Voting Receipts

You may submit one ballot per room per election round while voting is open. Select at least one candidate and stay within the seat limit for each position. Review your selections before confirming. A successful submission records participation, updates totals, and provides a transaction ID. Submitted selections cannot be edited or withdrawn through the app. Do not use extra accounts, another person’s account, or technical workarounds to submit additional ballots.

Schedules and Results

Owners can set optional opening and closing times or end voting manually. The voting screen prevents submission before the opening time and after voting ends. Owners can view results and turnout while voting is active. Voters can view results after voting ends; turnout controls remain owner-only in the interface. These display rules are not a promise that underlying totals are confidential. See the Privacy Policy for data visibility.

Ending, Restarting, or Replacing an Election

Ending voting closes submission and retains candidates and totals. Restarting voting keeps candidates but clears vote totals, participation records, and receipt IDs for a new round. Creating a replacement pool clears the previous candidates and voting records and resets pool settings. Deleting a room removes its room data. Owners should preserve any results they need before resetting or deleting; the app does not provide a permanent election archive.

Content and Responsible Use

Only upload names, photos, candidate platforms, party-list information, and banners that you have permission to use. Owners must handle member information responsibly. Do not misuse someone else’s personal data, harass participants, access accounts without permission, or interfere with voting records. Room owners can remove members from their rooms.

Account Changes and Deletion

You can edit your profile name and photo. Password accounts can change their uVote password. Google-only accounts manage their password through Google. An existing account can link Google from My Profile, preserving the same account and voting records. Email editing is disabled. Settings includes Delete Account: password users confirm their password and Google-only users confirm through Google. Deletion removes your account and any room you own and attempts to remove memberships and related personal records. The device stays reserved to the deleted account, so you cannot create another account on that device without administrator review. You may still sign in using a different existing account. Records in rooms owned by others may remain as described in the Privacy Policy.

Availability and Election Decisions

Signing in, joining, requesting codes, and submitting ballots depend on internet access and connected services. A pending or failed submission is not proof that a ballot was accepted; check the app’s confirmation or receipt. uVote does not certify an election’s legal validity or a participant’s eligibility. The organizer is responsible for deciding whether the app is suitable for their election and for handling election disputes. Nothing in these terms removes rights that applicable law protects.

Questions and Updates

For room access, candidates, schedules, or results, contact the room owner through your organization’s usual channel. For app-wide concerns, use the developer contact shown in About App. This version has no in-app support chat. These terms may be revised; the date above identifies this version. Read the Privacy Policy for how information is handled.
